Cllr Thandi Zitha was elected as the new mayor of the Greater Giyani Municipality during a full council seating on Monday, 22 November 2021.

Zitha was elected along with Speaker Cllr Agrey Ernest Mboweni and Chief Whip Cllr Thomas Makondo.

Delivering her inaugural speech, the Mayor, Cllr Zitha committed that the Council will put the interest of the people at heart.

“I fully commit this council under my stewardship to serve our people distinctively. This, by attending to all pressing service delivery challenges such as water crisis and poor roads infrastructure amongst others,”’ she said.

“I recommit myself and the entire GGM Council that we will put our hands on the deck and service our people diligently,” concluded Zitha.

Meanwhile, all other municipal committees such as the Executive Committee and MPAC were elected.
