The Musina Regional Court on Tuesday, 23 November 2021, sentenced a 28-year-old man to life imprisonment after he was convicted for raping a 12-year-old child in July of 2019.

The court found that on 27 July 2021 in the evening, while the victim was waiting for her sister at Tshiungani village under Muswodi policing area, the accused approached and threatened her with violence.

He then dragged the child into an abandoned house where he raped her.

The victim managed to escape and on her way home, she met her family members who were searching for her and she told them about the incident. The accused was arrested the following day.

The case was transferred to Musina Family Violence and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) and assigned to Sergeant Mbavhalelo Vhengani.

The Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has applauded the Investigating officer for the splendid job done in ensuring that the rapist is incarcerated for life.
