Police in Thohoyandou seek information that can lead to the arrest of suspect responsible for the brutal murder of a 15-year-old girl, whose body was found in the bushes at Vondwe village on Sunday 05 December 2021 at about 19:00.

It is alleged that the victim was walking with a male companion from The Lion Inn Resort which is situated at Tshivhilwi village on Saturday night, 4 December 2021 at about 21:00 when they were allegedly confronted by an unknown male suspect next to Muofhe Filling station.

The suspect allegedly produced a knife and threatened the male companion who fled the scene. The suspect then grabbed the girl and forcefully dragged her into the nearby bushes, where he subsequently stabbed her to death before fleeing the crime scene.

The Police were busy with patrol duties at about 19:00 on Sunday, when they were notified by a community member about the body of a female person lying in the nearby bushes and quickly rushed to the area. Upon arrival at the scene, they found the body of a young girl with stab wounds on her upper body.

The deceased was identified as Tshinakaho Munyai from Vondwe village.

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has urged community members to assist the Police by providing valuable information that can lead to the arrest of killer.

“Following the launch of 16 Days of Activism For No Violence Against Women and Children last month, horrendous crimes like this require active involvement of community members and other formations across the Province, to assist the police in the fight against this scourge,” said Lieutenant General Hadebe.
