Police in Limpopo have apprehended 1531 suspects for various crimes that include murder, robberies, rape 14, sexual offences, burglary business and stock theft.
The suspects aged between 23 and 57 were arrested during the ongoing festive season operations. They were conducted across all five Districts from last week Monday until today on 07 December 2021.

Four foreign nationals aged between 24 and 51 were yesterday arrested in Polokwane by members of the Provincial Tracking Team. This is for allegedly smuggling illicit cigarettes in a huge truck. Police received information about a Superlink Volvo truck carrying a consignment of illicit cigarettes concealed in scrap canisters. It managed to pass through the Beitbridge Border Post.
The said Truck was spotted at the N1/R71 intersection on the outskirts of Polokwane. Illicit cigarettes worth R1 million were recovered and the suspects were arrested. Three of the suspects will also be charged for contravening the Immigration Act.
Swift response to a tip-off by Mahwelereng Crime Intelligence and Mokopane Stock Theft Unit resulted in the arrest of three suspects aged between 22 and 32 for alleged stock theft in the Mahwelereng policing area under the Waterberg district. The Police received information about a grey Nissan bakkie pulling a trailer loaded with suspected stolen livestock.
Immediately after receiving the information, the vehicle was spotted along the N11 road and pulled over. 54 goats and 08 sheep with an estimated value of R90 000 were found loaded at the back of the bakkie. The suspects were immediately arrested.
SUSPECTS ARRESTED FOR VARIOUS CRIMES IN LIMPOPO
The Polokwane Vehicle Investigative Unit also arrested three suspects in Ladanna outside Polokwane for possession of a suspected stolen trailer estimated at R20.000. The suspects aged 23 and 27 were also found in possession of a toygun, bulletproof vest and a charcoal Ford Ranger bakkie amounting to R400,000. It was used during the commission of the crime were also seized during the arrest.
Two foreign Nationals were also arrested in Lebowakgomo policing precinct for possession of a stolen motor vehicle. It was reportedly stolen in October this year in Hillbrow, Gauteng province. The Nissan Hardbody bakkie valued at R75000.00 was tested and positively matched the description of the stolen vehicle.
During the arrests, Police seized 212 424 sticks of counterfeit cigarettes, 40 dangerous weapons, 4664 grams of dagga. 11 dagga plants, 9 grams of Crystal Meth, 36 grams of Mandrax powder, 11 grams of Nyaope, 10 firearms, 1 347 677ml liquor. 40 Knives, 2 trailers, bulletproof, 5 vehicles confiscated, 11 stolen/robbed vehicles recovered including 1797 fines issued.
