Polokwane-based Urban Community Radio station, Energy FM have announced programme changes effective from Monday, 7 February 2022.

The changes will see the long-awaited return of popular presenter Makwena Makgakga into the Radio world. Makgaga will present a weekday show between 12:00-15:00.

The station has also announced that they will reduce all but a few of its 4-hour shows to 3 hours.


The Ashifa Breakfast show anchored by comedian Ashifashabba, Lelo Mogaleadi and BK Matewe will retain its 06h00 – 9h00 slot on weekdays.

Frank Majestic’s the Grand Connection show will air 09h00 – 12h00.

Makwena Makgakga the likeable former SABC Thobela FM presenter joins the Pulse of the City to host a 12h00 – 15h00 weekday show which will be broadcast predominantly in SePedi.

Hanoc Baloyi and Palesa Mangwale will continue their partnership on the Energy Drive between 15h00 – 18h00.


The Station flagship sport show The Radio Assistant Referee hosted by BK Matewe will now air 18h00 – 19h00 due to listener demand while the current affairs show Conversations hosted by the dynamic Rebecca Phala is live from 19h00 – 21h00 and The Night Flight by veteran Mathumo Manaka is from 21h00 till midnight.

Thovhedzo Mufhadi a.k.a. Morris T a new addition to the Energy FM family will host the Party District on Friday and Saturday between 22h00 – -02h00 and Sunday between 12h00 and 15h00 with broadcast primarily in TshiVenda.

Amukelani Mabuza will take charge of the Saturday 12h00 – 15h00 slot which will mostly be broadcast in Xitsonga.
Mitchelle Kararo is another addition to the family. He will take charge of the Saturday weekend breakfast show weekend Morning Rush on air 06h00 – 09h00.

Two new faces also join the Newsroom as newsreaders and reporters – Jasmine Senthumule and Masechaba Kobola.
Ntsako Mathebula takes charge as Social Media Manager.

All other show presenters also remain unchanged.
