A Company director and accomplices are expected to appear in the dock for fraud at Lepelle Nkumpi Municipality in Limpopo.

Five suspects aged between 36 and 54 will appear in the Lebowakgomo Magistrate’s Court today, 17 March 2022.


It is alleged that in 2015, the Municipality awarded an R2.7 million tender to River Queen company to renovate the municipal hall including fixing the air conditioners.

The investigation revealed that the air conditioners were never fixed, but the company was paid R1.6 million

The suspects who include the company Director, former Ward Councillor, former Municipal Project Manager. Municipal Senior Manager for Technical Services and company Quantity Surveyor were arrested by the Hawks joint team (Serious Corruption Investigation and Serious Commercial Crime Investigation). This was during a takedown operation on Wednesday 16 March 2022 in Lebowakgomo and Polokwane.
