A Company director is set to appear in the Polokwane Specialised Commercial Crimes Court for alleged tax evasion. The 33-year-old and his company named Homeground were served with the summonses to appear on 31 May 2022 for alleged fraud.
GOVERNMENT PPE SCANDAL
In an attempt by the government to fight Corona Virus in the country, the company was in October 2020 awarded a tender to supply Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in 23 schools in Gauteng Province.

It is further alleged that the company was paid R6 448 281-00 by the Department of Education for services that were rendered.
COMPANY IN COURT FOR FRAUD AND TAX EVASION
The South African Revenue Service (SARS) allegedly conducted its audit. They found that the company was not VAT compliant and it was owing R841 080-31. The matter was then referred to the Hawks’ Serious Corruption investigation for further handling.
The Department is also being investigated. Other PPE’s related cases in the Province are still under investigation.
