The 2022 Limpopo Tourism Month launch took place today, Tuesday, 23 August at Kalahari Waterfront at the Nandoni Budeli area in the Vhembe District hosted by LT Agency.

The launch is also the first after the regulations of COVID 19 were relaxed.

The theme for World Tourism Day 2022 as provided by United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) is ‘Rethinking Tourism’. This is customized to South Africa as “Rethinking tourism success for sustainable growth”.

LIMPOPO TOURISM MONTH 

“This year’s theme is also aimed at inspiring insightful discussions within the tourism industry. To rethink the way we are also doing business. It’s development and identifying sustainable opportunities for future growth” said Mr. Sello Maleka Acting CEO for Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA).

World Tourism Day, is also celebrated each year on 27 September. It is the global observance day fostering awareness of tourism’s social, cultural, political, and economic value. The contribution that the sector can make towards reaching the Sustainable Development Goals. In South Africa, this is a month-long celebration aimed at highlighting the importance of the sector to the South African economy. Encourage domestic tourism in line with the Tourism Sector Recovery Plan.

AGENCY HOST GLOBAL EVENT

Now that the tourism industry is fully open and functional, it is now time for the sector to do the most important things that we could not have done in the previous two years. Its now time to also rebuild, rebrand and recover as the tourism sector in the province and country.

In support of the global theme and in celebration of this important period in our sectors, as a destination we will rally all tourism stakeholder, citizens, and potential tourists to visit and celebrate with us using key industry events and activations. Also working closely with all tourism stakeholder. The province has come up with a comprehensive calendar of events which help popularize the theme and raise awareness on the key subjects.
