Well-known South African artist Dj Sumbody real name, Oupa Sefoka was shot and killed in the early hours of Sunday morning in Johannesburg.
Another person he was travelling with was also confirmed dead.
The family of the Limpopo born also confirmed the news in a statement. The exact details surrounding his death could also not be released as investigations were under way.
A third person who was travelling in a BMW X5 was rushed to hospital after suffering gunshot wounds from the same incident.
FAMILY STATEMENT
“Oupa John Sefoka allegedly ran into an unfortunate incident that led to his passing in the early hours of Sunday morning. Investigations are still ongoing. The Sefoka family and Sumsounds Music Management have kindly requested privacy during this difficult time,ā read the statement.

Gauteng police spokesperson Lt-Col Mavela Masondo told the Sowetan that the shooting took place on the corner of Woodmead Drive and Woodland Drive in Sandton.
“Upon arrival at the scene, police found two people inside a VW Golf with gunshot wounds. Both victims, a driver, and a passenger were certified dead on the scene.
“It was reported that the third victim, who was driving a BMW X5, was taken to the nearest medical care center after sustaining gunshot wounds,” Masondo told the publication.
Unconfirmed reports on social media said the DJ was shot dead while on his way to a gig.
The Dj was due to perform at an All White Veuve Clicquot Picnic on Sunday. An event he organized.
The Sekhukhune born artist was also an owner of popular hangout spot Ayepyep in Pretoria.

His colleagues in the Music industry and Politicians have sent their messages of condolences to the Monate Mpulaye hit maker.
“Oupa, we failed you. Like many others, you are a victim of a mafia state, failed state. Robala mfanaka mara Iām not ok. ššš,” EFF Leader Julius Malema wrote.
