The Limpopo Department of Health have convened a three-day conference aimed at addressing the medico-legal claims challenges in the province.
The conference is expected to come up with practical ways and strategies that will assist the department to reduce the current medico-legal claims. It began on Tuesday, 7 March at Karibu Leisure Resort in Tzaneen. MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba officially opened the conference on Tuesday.
PROVINCE FACES HUGE MEDICO-LEGAL CLAIMS
The department is currently facing Medico Legal claims, exceeding R 7 billion.

The conference will bring together health employees and managers as well as industry experts such as the High Court of South Africa, South African Medico-Legal Association, the South African Law Reform Commission and the State Attorney of South Africa among others.

The province will also receive best practices from provinces that are doing well in addressing the challenge.
