The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, Capricorn District Library in partnership with Polokwane Municipality launched South African Library Week (SALW). The launch took place at Matlala Library in Setumong Village, Polokwane Local Municipality.

The Library and Information Association of South Africa (LIASA) is celebrating SALW with the theme “Libraries: telling powerful stories” from 20-26 March 2023.

Participants were informed about the importance of a Library in society and were encouraged to utilize it as it is not only limited to reading books.

SOUTH AFRICAN LIBRARY WEEK LAUNCHED 

But to capacitate themselves in a wide range of fields. Such as seeking new business ventures, applying for employment and seeking career guidance through resources offered in the library. 

Launch of the South African Library Week

The unemployed and those who are seeking business ventures were given information by various institutions. This includes the Department of Labour, LEDA, NYDA. About channels to follow to register on their databases. Not limit their scope of seeking employment in their home Province only.

The Campaign will be ongoing for the duration of the week in all Districts.
