A resident of Mankweng in Limpopo was on Monday, 10 April arrested for stealing water. The suspect was allegedly nubbed for also tampering with essential infrastructure.
The Polokwane Municipality in Capricorn District announced in a statement on Monday that it is a criminal offence punishable by law to steal water.
Polokwane Municipality’s Community Services officials have arrested another suspect in the Mankweng area for allegedly tampering with essential infrastructure from a municipal reservoir,” read the statement.

“The suspect’s water tanker has also been impounded. Tampering with municipal service infrastructure is a criminal offence punishable by law.”
The municipality’s law enforcement has been busy during Easter Monday. They also announced that three suspects were arrested for cable theft.
This has also resulted in most areas in the City and Seshego suffering from power supply due to cable theft.
The culprits were nabbed in collaboration with the Westenburg police following a tip-off from the community.
