The Limpopo Department of Education has opened school applications for admission for the 2024 academic year. The department will be done using a manual system since online applications have proven to be problematic.

The department spokesperson Mike Maringa says they will be starting with entry-phase applications. These are grades R,1 and 8, from the 15th of May to the 31st of July while applications for grades 2 to 11 will take place from the 15th to the 22nd of September.

This will be done through the collection and submission of manual forms from the school closest to the child’s home. The required documents will be the child’s birth certificate, immunization card, last report card. Transfer letter for those changing schools and most importantly, a proof of residence.

SCHOOL APPLICATIONS TO BE DONE MANUALLY

Maringa says the province piloted the online application system for a year. This is after they were met with some challenges which is why they went back to using only the manual system.

He says they might consider going back to the online system after consulting with other provinces who use it. The department also added that it is advisable for parents to take their children to schools within their feeder zone.
