Acting MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya has congratulated Limpopo side Polokwane City FC for gaining automatic promotion to the DStv Premiership.
Rise and Shine beat Pretoria Caillies 4-0 on Sunday at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium to confirm their return to the elite league. They were initially relegated to the Motsepe Foundation Championship three seasons ago.

Their promotion means Limpopo will now have three clubs in the PSL top division as of next season. But the number will also depend on how Marumo Gallants finish in the premiership. Gallants need to win their last match of the season against Swallows to save their status.

MEC Lerule-Ramakhanya says the promotion of Polokwane City will also expand economic activities in the Province.

“This is a milestone for the team and the province as a whole. We are proud of the team and through this promotion. More social cohesion activities will come alive and it will also expand the economic activities of the City and the entire Province,” she said.
MEC Lerule-Ramakhanya says as more teams from Limpopo gain promotion to the ultimate league in the country, young soccer stars will be encouraged to join soccer teams that ply their trade at the highest peak of competitions.
