Univen spokesperson Dr Takalani Dzaga has cautioned students to be wary of Monkeys when walking inside the campus after a staff member was attacked. The staff member who sustained injuries while trying to run away at the University of Venda in Vhembe, Limpopo.

It is said there are troops of monkeys that are roaming at the Univen campus. They wildly attacking people, both men and women.

“The University community is advised to change direction whenever they see a group of monkeys, for safety’s sake,” said Dzaga.

“It is also advisable that when confronted by a monkey, do not look them in the eye.

“Instead, make yourself look as big as possible, such as by spreading open your coat and backing away as quietly as possible without making sudden moves’, he warned.

FARMERS DAY 

Meanwhile, the Faculty of Science, Engineering, and Agriculture held a Farmers’ Day on Wednesday, 31 May 2023. The event was held at UNIVEN Research Conference Centre.

The Faculty trains future farmers and conducts research that seeks to find solutions for farmers and contribute towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals [SDGs]. 

According to the UNIVEN Experimental Farm Manager, Ms Thifheli Kutama, Farmers’ Day is an information day for farmers. They come and receive information on farming-related matters.
