A well-known Motetema businessman, Aubrey Maponya was murdered and his friend suffered serious injuries after the pair were attacked by unknown suspects on Saturday, 10 June. The 43-year-old and a friend were shot by the suspects who were driving in a white Mercedes Benz sedan on Saturday, 10 June 2023 at Motetema Village, Limpopo at about 17:45.

According to the information, the businessman Aubrey Maponya and his friend were driving in a white Toyota Hilux. They were shot at and wounded by occupants of a white Mercedes Benz which appears to have been following them.

The Police and Emergency Services Personnel were called to the scene and on arrival, the victims were rushed to a local hospital. Aubrey succumbed to his injuries on arrival at the hospital., His friend was transferred to another hospital for medical attention.

AUBREY MAPONYA SHOT DEAD

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has condemned the incident. She has called upon anyone with information to contact the Police in order for the suspects to be arrested.

MOTETEMA BUSINESSMAN MURDERED

The motive of the attack is not known but police investigations continue. Police have opened a case of murder and attempted murder for further investigation.
