A Traffic officer attached to the Phalaborwa Traffic Station in Mopani, Limpopo was killed after being knocked down by a car while on duty. According to the reports, a Nissan LDV Breakdown knocked down the Traffic while she was doing point duty at the scene of an accident.

The incident happened along the R71, Gravelotte road next to Kolobe Lodge on Thursday morning, 15 June 2023.
The cause for the accident could have been brake failures and overspeeding of the breakdown recovery vehicle. The deceased has been identified as a 36-year-old female Traffic Officer, Itani Robinah Ravele.

Limpopo MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Florence Radzilani has sent her heartfelt condolences to the Ravele family. Ravele has been described as someone who served the Department with integrity and commitment to keep the people safe on the roads.
“We urge everyone to take extra precautions during this long weekend and follow the rules of the road,” said Radzilani.
“We also encourage everyone to continue treating our Traffic
Officers with respect and always follow their instructions on the roads,” she said
