A 27-year-old mother has been arrested for a case of concealment of birth after she dumped a newborn baby in an empty stand in Molemole, Limpopo. The incident took place at Ratsaka Village on Thursday, 15 June at around 16:00.

It is alleged that the Police were notified about the incident and rushed to the scene. Upon arrival with the emergency personnel, they found the said newborn baby in the unoccupied yard.

He was certified dead at the scene. Following investigations a Zimbabwean woman aged 27 residing not far from the scene was arrested at the same village, on Friday 16 June 2023 at 07:30 in the morning.

She will appear before Morebeng Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 19 June. She faces a charge of concealment of birth.

The Provincial Commissioner of SAPS in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe applauded the members for managing to track down the suspect and arrest her.
