A Limpopo family based in Sibasa, outside of Thohoyandou are reeling in shock after the kidnapping of 19-year-old Son. According to SABCNews, the Kapadia family says they are waiting to be contacted by the kidnappers of their son Zaied. He was kidnapped just a few meters from his house on Friday.
Police spokesperson, Malesela Ledwaba has confirmed the incident to the SABC. But he refused to divulge details for fear of placing the life of the victim in jeopardy.

“No one phoned me asking for money, we are still waiting, they are only targeting one community,” said the victim’s father, Mobarak Kapadia.
“He was doing Grade 11, 19-year-old too much shock. We are just worried he was going to buy bread here in the spaza shop not far away,” said Kapadia.

The increasing number of kidnappings targeting Indian traders in Limpopo has become a source of concern. In recent times, several incidents where prominent businesspeople or their family members have been kidnapped and ransom demanded have occurred.
SOME OF THE RECENT KIDNAPPING CASES IN THOHOYANDOU
Pratham Berawala [20] from Thohoyandou P East was kidnapped on 3 January this year. He was driving from his home to town when he was abducted but released the next day.
An 8-year-old was also kidnapped also in Thohoyandou near her home on her way from school on 9 March this year.
She was released two days later.
Hafsa Nazir Patel [48] was kidnapped outside her house on 29 June 2022 and released the same night.
Muntazir Hanif [35] was kidnapped on 3 February 2023 on his way home and released again two days later.
