A 34-year-old man was on Wednesday, 21 June arrested for the rape of an eight-year-old Grade 1 leaner boy in Modimolle, Limpopo.
Police reportedly received a complaint on 3 May from the Principal of a Primary School in Modimolle about a Grade 1 learner who was living in an unhygienic condition.

They were also informed that the mother was confronted to improve the living conditions of the child which were not adhered to their satisfaction.

Unfortunately, on 26 May the minor was removed from his mother’s care. He was taken to a place of safety at Children’s Home in Modimolle. The child was later taken for medical examination because the victim displayed symptoms of sexual abuse.
On Tuesday 20 June, Police further conducted a forensic assessment. It proved beyond reasonable doubt that the child was raped on several occasions during the said period.
34-YEAR-OLD ARRESTED FOR RAPE OF GRADE 1 LEARNER
Police investigations immediately commenced. A 34-year-old male suspect was then nabbed in Modimolle in connection with the rape of an eight-year-old boy.
The suspect appeared before the Modimolle Magistrate Court on Thursday, 22 June facing a charge of rape. Police Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe applauded the Investigation team members.
