Police in Vuwani, Thulamela have launched a manhunt for suspects responsible for the brutal murder of an elderly couple at Lwamondo Tshifulanani.

Bodies of a 74-year-old man and his alleged partner aged 58 were discovered at their home on Tuesday, 4 July at about 11:30.

Police were alerted about the incident and upon their arrival, they found the couple lying in a pool of blood inside their bedroom with several deep cut wounds. They were both certified dead on the scene.

Preliminary investigation indicates that the intruders gained entry by cutting the burglar door and forcing the door.

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has condemned the incident. She has also directed that the suspects responsible for this heinous crime be hunted down and brought to book.


Police have also opened two counts of murder. The motive for the incident is unknown at this stage.

The deceased were identified as Nevondo Khorommbi (74) and his partner Tshifhiwa Mercy Maphaha (58).
