A Foreign National shopkeeper has been arrested for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl at his Tuck shop in Selwane village in Lulekani outside Phalaborwa. The incident took place on Thursday, 20 July 2023.
According to the reports received, the child had been sent to the shop at about 15h00 to buy some items. The suspect aged 18 allegedly threatened and raped her on top of a fridge.

The devastated child reported the incident to her family when she arrived home and the Police were immediately contacted. A case of rape was opened and transferred to the FCS Unit for further investigation. The suspect was arrested at the shop within a few hours of the incident.

FOREIGN SHOPKEEPER ARRESTED FOR RAPING 13-YEAR-OLD
Limpopo Commissioner of Police Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe condemned the incident. She praised the child for her bravery and ensured this shameless individual is exposed for his devious acts.
“Crimes against women and children have always been a priority to the South African Police Service. The swift action of our members in arresting the suspect is highly commendable,” concluded Lieutenant General Hadebe.
The suspect will appear before the Lulekani Magistrate’s Court on Monday 24 July. He is also facing a charge of rape.
