The Solidarity walk started at the Giyani Community Hall at Harvest Time Church. This is where the MEC gave a keynote address.
“Today as we do the countdown, it’s about you as an individual. It has nothing to do with what your friend next to you is talking about,” said Lerule-Ramakhanya.

“It has got nothing to do with the behaviour of the person next to you. The certificate when it comes out will have your name and ID.

“Today is about your saying to all stakeholders that know that the candidates are here and we want your support,” she told the learners.

“The countdown Today is about me and you saying to educators you have ushered us since January and Today we are starting our journey to say our educators thank you. We have been with you but on the last journey we will take it alone.”

As I conclude, I want to take this time and talk to our stakeholders in the hall and parents following us on social media. Our learners will be writing in a few weeks, we need to give them a break from hard domestic chores. Their energy must be directed to school work, catch and revision.

“Please give them time to rest, allow them time to sleep after their long study sessions. I also want you to monitor them to ensure that they are indeed studying. The use of cellphones must be very minimal. Make sure that they use their gadgets for academic purposes,” she concluded.
