The Hawks have revealed the names of the 19 deceased who were shot dead during the shootout with Police in Makhado, Limpopo on Friday.

They were killed in a shootout with police in a house at Eltivilas in Louis Trichardt on Friday. It is believed they are connected to the recent spike in cash-in-transit robberies in three provinces.

Five more suspects were also arrested in Thohoyandou and made a brief court appearance at Vuwani magistrate court on Monday.

 9. A/MALE: Magangane Mandlenkosi (35 Yrs) from Diepkloof (Gauteng)
 10. A/MALE: Ntshetseng Mokwi Moses (41 Yrs) from Ga-Masemola (Limpopo)
11.A/MALE: Makhavhu Hope Japhta “Tsepo”, (Nickname: Mabunga) (46 Yrs) from Lwamondo-Tshifulanani also in Limpopo

16. A/MALE: Thipe Thabo Christopher (54 Yrs) from Linesia (Gauteng)
17. A/MALE: Ramaisa Dipholo (36 Yrs) from Braamfisherville also from Gauteng.

The process to identify the outstanding two deceased will also continue on Wednesday. 

Meanwhile, Senior police officer Lt-Col Joe Coetzer was injured during the shoot-out after he was shot in the leg. Coetzer was also airlifted to the hospital for medical care. But unfortunately, his leg could not be saved and was amputated.

It has since been revealed that over 27 aCIT-related rrests have been made in the first quarter of the 2023/24 financial year. This also includes three Fidelity security officials who are alleged to be involved in a CIT heist in the Free State.
