Police in Saselamani, Limpopo have launched a massive manhunt after three awaiting trial inmates escaped from custody on Thursday. The male suspects aged 32 and 33 years escaped from the Police detention facility in the early hours of Thursday, 2 November.

According to the information, the Police officers were on duty at about 03:26 a.m. when they were conducting a routine of hourly patrol duties. They heard an unusual noise from the cells. Upon arrival in the cells, they discovered that three of the inmates escaped through the roof.

Circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated.

The following detainees have escaped from lawful custody:

1. Mikateko Ronald Chauke (33) arrested for Burglary.
2. Jimmy Mtivhele (32) arrested for Burglary.
3. Dumisani Respect Chauke (32) arrested for two counts of assault with intent to also do grievous bodily harm.

The Police have immediately activated a manhunt for the three male escapees. They are all South African citizens and they are also from Saselamani.

Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has ordered the Police to track down the suspects with a view to recapturing them. She further called upon the community to provide information about the suspects ‘s whereabouts.
