Three Capricorn TVET College Campuses have been temporarily closed due to ongoing violent student protests. The affected campuses are the Seshego, Senwabarwana and Polokwane campuses.

Hostel students are also expected to vacate the college premises by 10:00 on Wednesday, 13 March 2023.

“Following the ongoing protests within Capricorn TVET College which have disrupted teaching and learning activities, the College Management has decided to temporarily close Seshego, Senwabarwana and Polokwane campuses until further notice,” the management announced in a statement on Tuesday.

STUDENT PROTESTS FORCE CAPRICORN TVET COLLEGES TO BE CLOSED  

“The College Management decided to temporarily close the above-mentioned three campuses with immediate effect until further notice.

Hostel students within the Seshego and Polokwane campuses are expected to vacate the College premises in a safe and orderly manner. Latest by 10:00 Wednesday, 13 March 2024,” they added.

“The College will continue to closely monitor the situation before implementing any further steps. To protect the lives of its staff and students as well as to secure the property.” Meanwhile, the Ramokgopa campus is not affected by this decision.

“Any other important updates will be communicated through the College website, official social media platforms and any other convenient means.”
