The Polokwane Municipality in Limpopo extended a helping hand to its residents in need by donating four houses. The houses are located in Manyapje Ga-Mashashane, Mankweng, Moletjie Ga-Manamela, and Thokgwaneng. The donation was made possible through a collaborative effort with Standard Bank.

The Municipality says they are donating houses to the poor because of its unwavering commitment to uplifting the lives of its citizens. particularly those facing economic hardship and housing insecurity.

“The municipality took decisive action to address the housing needs of its most vulnerable residents,” they said.

“Together, the municipality and Standard Bank worked tirelessly to ensure that those in need could finally have a place to call home.”

In addition to receiving new homes, the beneficiaries were also provided with beds and food parcels. Further easing their transition into their surroundings.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, they highlighted the significance of the occasion.

“What makes today more special is that all the beneficiaries of the houses handed over today are living with one form of disability,” said MMC representing the Executive Mayor, Cllr Fikile Mashalane.

“Despite them living in shacks and with a disability, these families also have children to look after and raise. All the beneficiaries have a touching story to tell.”

Mashalane also expressed gratitude to Standard Bank for their invaluable partnership and support.

“This is why we take this opportunity to take off our hats to Standard Bank for coming to the party and partnering with us to lend a hand to those members of the community who are in need and without proper housing,” she said.
