An accident involving a taxi and truck on the R521 between Polokwane and Dendron road in Limpopo on Tuesday claimed 13 lives. The accident occurred at Ga-Hlahla on Dendron Road. The head-on collision involving a Toyota Minibus and a Hyundai HMV unfortunately claimed the lives of two male Drivers. As well as 11 passengers from the Mini bus, nine female and two male.

Limpopo MEC for Transport and Community Safety, Florence Radzilani is set to visit the accident scene. More information will follow as the traffic officials on the scene continue with their assessment of the scene.

MEC RADZILANI TO VISIT THE DENDRON ROAD TRUCK AND TAXI ACCIDENT SCENE

10 of the deceased were confirmed as Educators stationed at Capricorn North Education District. The fatal crash took place on the R521 between  Polokwane and Dendron route with multiple injuries and fatalities.

Radzilani was also joined by MEC for Education Limpopo Ms Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya. She also expressed her heartfelt condolences to the family, Education community and friends of the accident victims.

“It is with a heavy heart to learn about the untimely deaths of 10 of our departmental workforce who unfortunately lost their lives through a fatal accident on the R521 route between Polokwane and Dendron this morning. We therefore convey our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.  This is a great loss to Team Education in Limpopo,” said MEC Lerule-Ramakhanya.
