The ANC in Limpopo has nominated the three names for Premier candidate during the Provincial Executive Committee’s extended meeting in Polokwane on Monday. The extended meeting was attended by members of the PEC and Alliance partners.

Chairperson of the ANC Electoral Committee, Kgalema Motlanthe presided over the plenary to nominate candidates for Premier, for consideration by national leadership. The new Premier is set to take over from Stanley Mathabatha who just served his last term of office.

The Limpopo extended ANC PEC meeting nominated Health MEC Dr Phophi Ramathuba, Sport, Arts & Culture MEC Nakedi Sibanda-Kekana and Cogsta MEC Basikopo Makamu in order of preference. The trio will now be interviewed by ANC national officials this week.

ANC provincial spokesperson Jimmy Machaka says they will make the list public once the process is concluded.

“In terms of the deadlines we are required to nominate the three names. We have nominated the three names,” he told Capricorn FM News.

“The names have now been sent to national for interviews. Once a decision is made, we will pronounce publicly on the final product.”
