The Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union, POPCRU in Limpopo will wrap up their 10th Provincial Congress being held in Tzaneen. The two-day congress is hosted at the Hotel@Tzaneen, Mopani.

It is aimed at bringing together union leaders and key stakeholders to discuss pressing issues affecting the criminal justice sector. Outline strategic plans, and reinforce our commitment to advocating for the rights of our members and the broader community.

On Monday, ANC Provincial Secretary Reuben Madadzhe delivered a message of support.

“The Congress will serve as a platform to discuss the 10th POPCRU National Congress outcomes,” said POPCRU.

“Towards strengthening our ideological and organisational work for the advancement of an improved, informed and capacitated framework which will be utilised as a guiding path towards the attainment of a more effective criminal justice system in our country.

“This is in line with Clause (14) of the union’s constitution. Which among others, gives effect to the implementation of decisions of the National Congress (NC), the Central Executive Committee (CEC) and the National Executive Committee (NEC).”

“Under the theme “Building a sustainable organisation in defence of collective bargaining” which is in line with the 10th POPCRU National Congress, the upcoming Provincial Congress is expected to carry out the aims and objectives of the union with regard to the organisation of workers in their respective provinces.

“This is also an important task. Especially after the many challenges faced by public servants in the past few years. At a time when the 7th government administration is in effect.”
