Mitchwear: Proudly Limpopo brand making waves 

When Johnny Modiba from Lephepane Town, Greater Tzaneen in Limpopo created Mitchwear sneakers in 2022, one of his biggest dreams was to create employment. A year later, Modiba currently employs over 10 people in the current difficult economic times. He also wanted to show his creativity and vision in the industry that he knows very well. 

Mitchwear is a footwear company that sells a wide range of sneakers online and will soon be opening a physical store.

It has been widely embraced by customers from across South Africa and keen interest from countries such as California [USA], Botswana and Zambia.

“I’ve always loved sneakers, fashion and looking good. With the experience I’ve got in the Textile and footwear industry, I saw expansion in bettering the lives of those unemployed and wanting to better the livelihood of those around me,” said Modiba.

“Creating employment for different people with different backgrounds. Growing in aspects we weren’t anticipating and learning how e-commerce works,” he said.

“Since we’re an online business, our biggest challenge has been trust issues as our way of showing people our product is online. Funding is also one of our greatest challenges.”
