Netball World Cup Trophy touchdown in Polokwane

After touring through Mopani and Vhembe districts, the Netball World Cup trophy tour has touched down in Polokwane in the Capricorn District.
The trophy is doing the rounds in all five districts as part of a build-up to the much anticipated Netball World Cup. The World Cup will take place from Friday, 28 January until Sunday, 6 August in Cape Town.

Limpopo received the trophy from Mpumalanga MEC for Sports Thandi Shongwe in a ceremony held in Hoedspruit on Friday. Maruleng Municipality Mayor Tsheko Musolwa received the trophy on behalf of the Province accompanied by Limpopo Department of Sport officials.
The tour began at Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality before proceeding to the Greater Giyani Municipality in the same region. On Saturday the trophy visited the Thulamela Municipality headquarters and Thavhani Mall in the Vhembe District.
It was received by Thulamela Mayor Sarah Rambuda and Executive Mayor of Vhembe Dowelani Nenguda.
POLOKWANE GETS THE FEEL OF THE TROPHY
On Sunday, the World Cup trophy tour delegation started in Botlokwa before heading to Limpopo’s capital City.
Premier Stanley Mathabatha was there to officially welcome the trophy alongside Capricorn District Municipality Mayor Mamedupi Teffo.
The tour will now head to Lebowakgomo Mall in the Lepelle-Nkumpi Municipality before heading to Sekhukhune District on Monday, 11 June.
Waterberg District will be the last to receive the trophy and conclude the Limpopo tour.
