A multi-million rand water reticulation project in the Sekhukhune District, Limpopo is failing to deliver.
According to SABC News, the communities have been waiting for water for over six years since the R21 million project was commissioned. It was aimed at resuscitating a dam, boreholes and pipelines at Mohwelere Village.

Authorities have claimed that the project was completed, but residents are still using untreated water from nearby ponds and streams.
According to the public broadcaster, a donkey cart has to carry water from a water pond to various households at Mohwelere Village. Most people in the village also use untreated water from streams and ponds. The communal taps in the village remain dry.
SEKHUKHUNE DISTRICT WATER PROJECT FAILS
Residents have told the SABC that the current situation is posing a health risk. They now want the Limpopo Premier Stanley Mathabatha to intervene.
“They say the project came and pacified people, making them happy. But it has not yielded the water issues in the areas and any attempt to communicate with the Premier’s office is pointless,” said Bobo Makola who is a resident in the area.
“Scores of emails and reach outs have been acknowledged by the office. But they don’t get back, some of the residents have lamented.”
