Baroka spend Mandela Day with recovering drug addicts

Motsepe Foundation Championship club Baroka FC spent their Mandela Day on Tuesday with recovering drug addicts in Seshego Zone 3, outside Polokwane. The club was led by its Chairman Mr Khurishi Mphahlele and CEO Richard Mashabane.

Amongst other things, the PSL side shared words of encouragement with the patients from Ladgag Rehabilitation Center. They also presented them with club jerseys and soccer balls.

“Our role is to motivate and give them hope. They must feel that they are important and the society as well,” club boss Mphahlele told Limpopo Chronicle.

“It means a lot to us because Mandela was our icon. So to do this for Mandela we feel very proud and honoured.”

The club is set to have an official media briefing to unveil new signings as well as the departures. They have already lost long-serving Goalkeeper Oscarine Masuluke who has joined Stellenbosch. Defender and academy graduate Basil Mphahlele has also been signed by Stellies.

REINFORCEMENTS AT LEBOWAKGOMO CLUB

Baroka have made reinforcements within the technical team. Former Mpheni Home Defenders assistant coach Amukelani Hlungwani is the second in charge under Stanford Nkoane.

This will be the second season the club plays their matches at the Global Village in Leboho following their relegation.
