She officially became a model in 2021 but she started doing pageantry in 2017.

“I did a few small pageants where I did not advance beyond being a semi-finalist. But finally placed in the top 3 for Miss Teen South Africa in 2022. I am motivated by passion and the desire to have a positive impact in my country through modeling,” said Makondo.

She said being a model means that she has the opportunity to gain access to particular platforms. Not only because of her beauty but because of the knowledge, skills, and strengths that she possesses, to be a role model, and to empower others.

“My goal is to create the best life that I can for myself, empowering others and creating a better society. My goal is to be the representation that young black, Tsonga girls and boys need to see to be inspired to chase their dreams. I aspire to be Miss South Africa someday. And through this platform, I want to put Green Farm on the map and bring glory to God’s name by bettering lives,” she said.

She says her biggest achievement is finding God because there is no one without Him.

“I cannot do what I do without God’s guidance and providence. This is not just a win for me but for the young Tsonga girls and boys who feel that their dreams are out of reach because they don’t see other Tsonga people doing it. I’m doing it so that they can see that it’s possible. Shortly, I am to represent my country at Miss Intercontinental in Egypt. I plan to raise my flag high and proudly display the values that this country holds,” she explains.

She further said it takes purpose, determination, and patience. “It’s not easy, it may be for others but understand your path and be resilient. Amongst the challenges I faced, low self-esteem was the greatest. I believe that confidence is the best way to ensure any form of success in anything that you do. Without confidence, I couldn’t tap into my fullest potential. My family is very supportive. My mother is always on the frontline, ensuring that I have everything I need, to the best of her ability. They create an environment where I can flourish in every way,” she said.
