Soweto Giants Kaizer Chiefs suffered their second defeat of the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season in three matches. This follows a 1-0 loss to TS Galaxy on Sunday in Mbombela.

Galaxy scored the only goal of the match via a second-half own goal by Brandon Peterson.

Galaxy were also the dominating team in the first opening 10 minutes and posed a few threats to the Chiefs defense.

Chiefs launched their first move of the match in the tenth minute which nearly resulted in a goal. Striker Ranga Chivaviro was unlucky when his header went over the bar after a beautiful cross by Reeve Frosler.

Chiefs were dealt after striker Ranga Chivaviro was taken off with a hamstring injury as early as the 27th minute. He was replaced by Christian Saile.

Galaxy’s new signing Mpho Mvelase was having a great game on the right-hand side with some quality crosses. Unfortunately, there was no one to connect with from the Galaxy side.

Mlungisi Mbanjana was the first to go to the referees’ book after a foul in Potsane.

Saile came close for Chiefs five minutes from the break but his shot narrowly missed the target with only the keeper to beat.

Galaxy had their own attack but Sebelebele’s shot didn’t have much power to threaten Petersen. Galaxy’s shout for a handball in the 18-area box fell on deaf ears as the referee waved play on. The match went to the halftime break at 0-0.
