Limpopo murder-accused fugitive re-arrested at his hideout

Double Murder accused, Thabo Ali Malobela who allegedly escaped from Police Custody was re-arrested at his hideout in Hoedspruit, Limpopo. Malobelawas found hiding at an abandoned house in Sedawa Village following an intelligence-led operation by Detectives from Hoedspruit subsequent to a positive tip-off.
This was after the accused escaped from Sekororo Hospital a week after his arrest.

According to reports the suspect allegedly shot himself while being arrested at Sekororo, Santeng Village outside Hoedspruit. Police officers however managed to move swiftly to disarm him and quickly rushed him to hospital for medical treatment. He was under Police guard when he escaped.
Molobela was initially arrested after he allegedly went on a shooting spree on 19 August 2023 at Makgophong Village. Resulting in two deaths and four injuries. Among the victims were his wife, their child, and other relatives.
The circumstances surrounding the escape are still being investigated.
THABO ALI MALOBELA RE-ARRESTED IN HOEDSPRUIT
Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has lauded this dedicated team of members for working tirelessly around the clock to ensure the accused is tracked down and put behind bars where he belongs.
The General further thanked the community for assisting the police by providing valuable information relating to this incident which will make sure the perpetrator faces the full might of the law.
The suspect appeared before the Lenyenye Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday 04 October. He faced a charge of escaping from lawful custody. His case was postponed until 11 October for further police investigations.
The accused has been transferred to Mokopane where he will be appearing on charges of two counts of murder and four counts of attempted murder.
