MEC lauds successful Mapungubwe arts and Cultural festival

Limpopo MEC for Sport, Arts, and Culture Nakedi Kekana has appreciated the support given to the successful 2023 Mapungubwe Arts and Cultural Festival. The 19th instalment of the International festival took place with various festivities around the province.
The main event took place at the cricket club in Polokwane with performances from artists such as Makhadzi, King Monada, Pleasure Tsa Manyalo, Skomota [Main Picture] Master KG and Shebeshxt.

“The public participated in sets of events that were part of the programme and ensured its success,” said MEC in a statement.
“From the Media launch to the District build ups and subsequent carnival street parade showcasing the cultural diversity of the province. To the theatre nights and the comedy night, and the craft market that spans a week of an exhibition of artifacts, glamorous art and cultural items.
2023 MAPUNGUBWE ARTS FESTIVAL HAILED AS A SUCCESSFUL EVENT
Scores of attendees danced throughout the night on Saturday into the early hours of Sunday morning, until the last artists took to the stage at 7 am at the open-air concert hosted at the Polokwane Cricket Club.
“It has been a colourful and artistic two weeks so far. With Limpopo talent having been at the forefront of excellence. We urge the public to continue supporting the Mapungubwe Arts and Cultural Festival’s remaining activities,” said MEC Kekana.
The remaining activities are the Mapungubwe Choral Festival, Mapungubwe Youth and Divas Concert, and the Mapungubwe Marathon and Rugby Cup which will be hosted in February and March of 2024.
At the same time, MEC Kekana wishes the public a safe festive season, a merry Christmas, and a Happy year.
“We know that it is a time of festivities and gatherings. Be it parties or traditional and cultural events. We urge the public to conduct their activities within the confines of the law, as they enjoy themselves. We wish you all a merry Christmas, and a prosperous new year ahead,” said the MEC.
