Masevhe made his first appearance at the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court on 8 January after he handed himself in to the Police. The case was postponed to Tuesday, 16 January, for further investigation.
According to the Limpopo Mirror, the bishop’s lawyer made a request to the court to apply for bail on his client’s behalf on Friday, 12 January. His lawyer argued that Masevhe should be released on bail as he was fully booked for activities that weekend.
But that was opposed by state prosecutor Ms Mashudu Nekhumbe. She pointed out that they were not ready as they were still waiting for the director of public prosecutions.
