Sekhukhune Mayor engages with Phaahla Traditional Authority

Executive Mayor of Sekhukhune District Municipality, Minah Bahula on Thursday convened a meeting with the council of Phaahla Traditional Authority on issues of service delivery.

The meeting took place at Ga-Phaahla village under the leadership of Kgoši Letsiri Phaahla, Ngwato‘a Phogole. Bahula was accompanied by several members of the mayoral committee.

“The meeting is as a continuation of previous engagements, aimed to address and expedite essential service delivery projects. Notably focusing on water infrastructure projects in the area,” said the municipality. 

“During the discussions, the council of Kgoši Phaahla articulated various concerns, foremost among them being the necessity for the fencing of borehole project areas to ensure security and protection. Additionally, concerns regarding the lack of adequate sanitation infrastructure were also raised. 

“In response to these pressing issues, the Executive Mayor has committed to thoroughly investigate all raised concerns. To also expedite their resolution,” they said.

PRODUCTIVE MEETING BETWEEN MAYOR MINAH BAHULA AND PHAAHLA TRADITIONAL AUTHORITY

The Municipality has committed to deploy a dedicated repairs and maintenance team to the Mohlakeng water treatment plant for a week. To assess and address existing challenges, ensuring the provision of clean and potable water to the community.

Furthermore, the Executive Mayor has also pledged to expedite the borehole program. Extending construction efforts to all Magoši within the district. 

“This strategic initiative aims to facilitate easier access to water for communities across the district. A panel of contractors for this momentous program will be announced in the next few weeks.”

As a gesture of appreciation for the leadership role played by Kgoši Phaahla within the community, the Executive Mayor presented 100 chairs as a token of gratitude.

Bahula emphasized the municipality’s unwavering commitment to improving the quality of life for all residents within the Sekhukhune district. Emphasising the importance of collaborative efforts between traditional authorities and local government in achieving the developmental goal.
