Police in Limpopo have arrested a 16-year-old girl and her accomplice hitchhiking robbery syndicate in Tzaneen. The robbery took place on Saturday, 20 April 2024 at about 17:45.
The arrest occurred after the two women hitchhiked a white Toyota Avanza on the R71 with three men and a teenage girl.

Along the way, the vehicle turned towards the direction of Bolobedu. The suspects pointed out the victims with firearms demanding cash.
They then robbed the two women of their belongings, including cellphones, cash and jewellery. The suspects drove off and left the victims stranded.

They were ultimately assisted by a passerby who immediately notified the police. Upon arrival of the police, they commenced with initial investigations, which led to the swift arrest of two of the suspects within the vicinity.
During the arrest, one robbed cellphone and nine other cellphones suspected to have been robbed as well were confiscated.
The two suspects are expected to appear before Tzaneen Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 23 April 2024. They are facing charges of robbery with a firearm and possession of suspected stolen properties. The manhunt for the remaining suspects is also underway.
