Truck driver survives attempted murder ordeal at N1 Shell Garage

Members of Westenburg Police are hunting for four suspects who committed an attempted murder along N1 road next to Shell Garage outside Polokwane on Wednesday. The incident took place around 14:20. According to police reports, a foreign national truck driver was driving his work truck from Johannesburg to Polokwane.

He pulled into the N1 fueling station near Polokwane, bought some drinks, got into his truck, and drove away.

As he drove, four males, one of whom was armed approached his truck while in motion from the passenger side. They then pointed a firearm at him, in an attempt to stop him but refused to stop and drove off speedily. One suspect fired one shot at the passenger side window, which got partly shattered. He accelerated until he reached Westenburg police station to report the incident.

He never stopped at the scene; a gunshot passed right by him. A case of attempted murder was opened.
