Savannah Mall confirm Monday shooting incident

An Indian Man was reportedly robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash by a group of armed suspects at Savannah Mall in Polokwane on Monday. No injuries were reported. The centre management at the Mall confirmed to the Polokwane Review-Observer of the incident.

The manager at the Mall, Janene Wessels, told the same publication that gunshots were fired by several males at the banking entrance. The police and emergency services were reportedly quick to respond.

Wessels could not rule out that the shooting was planned. The victim may have been followed as he was carrying a substantial amount of cash.
Accounts from onlookers suggest the man was en route to make a transaction at an ATM when the incident occurred.
It is reported that a 48-year-old male victim departed from Limpopo Cash and Carry Supermarket intending to deposit a substantial amount of cash at the Mall.
Upon his arrival at the entrance of the mall, the victim was confronted by two unknown males in possession of firearms. One of the suspects unexpectedly shot the victim on the right foot. He threw the money bag on the floor after the gun shot.
Another suspect managed to pick it up and the duo ran away. Suddenly, a 48-year-old male victim took out his licensed firearm and fired several shots at the suspects. They also fired back while running towards their motor vehicle.
The duo subsequently managed to flee the scene with the cash while driving in a white Hyundai SUV motor vehicle.
