Limpopo-born Dr Koketjo Tsebe appointed to Boxing SA board

Sports psychologist Dr Koketjo Tsebe from Mokopane in Limpopo has been appointed to the Boxing South Africa [BSA] Board. Since obtaining her PhD in psychology, Tsebe has established herself as an expert in the field of sports psychology.
The University of Limpopo graduate has worked with many sports federations, including SAFA where she travelled with Banyana Banyana to the World Cup.

The Board which will be chaired by boxing promoter Sifiso Shongwe was announced by Sports Minister Zizi Kodwa on Tuesday.
The seven-member board comprises Sifiso Shongwe, Dr Koketjo Tsebe, Romy Titus and Luxolo September, Nande Mheshe, Luvuyo Precious Bayeni and Sakhiwe Sodo. They were picked from 14 hopefuls who attended interviews.

The board has been tasked with revitalising the sport of boxing in South Africa. Also to return it to the great heights it once scaled.’
“The time has come for all leadership, managers, trainers and boxers to put all squabbles behind,” said Kodwa.
“I urge the South African boxing fraternity to return to the arenas and boxing and to lift boxing in South Africa.”
The appointments also conclude a seven-week roadmap. On Friday, 10 May 2024, the Minister consulted BSA stakeholders on prospective candidates for the BSA board.
Further to this consultation, the Minister invited all stakeholders in their organised or individual capacities to submit written comments to the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture for his consideration.
“The Minister encourages the board to come up with a renewal and recovery strategy. To also ensure good corporate governance and ethical leadership at BSA.”
