A Child injured during a shooting between EFF and ANC supporters

Three people were injured, amongst them a child who is in serious condition in hospital after members and supporters of the EFF and ANC clashed during an election camping at Juju Valley in Seshego on Sunday.
Reports say EFF supporters who were brought to the area in bakkies allegedly confronted ANC members in a bid to prevent them from campaigning in the area. It is an informal settlement created by the EFF as a result of a land grab.

According to eyewitnesses, members of the EFF started to shoot towards ANC members who retaliated by throwing stones. A child was caught in the crossfire. The regional Chairperson of the ANC in the Peter Mokaba Region John Mpe says they will open a criminal case. They will also seek advice from the ANC Provincial Executive Committee on the way forward.
“We are not going to allow a situation where there is political intolerance in Limpopo. The creation of no go areas” said Mpe.
He said it is unfortunate that people were injured, especially a child in an incident that could have been avoided.

Meanwhile, one of the victims who was injured during the bloody fight has told Limpopo Chronicle that he is disappointed by the incident. He was hit with a stone on the head.
The Provincial ANC in Limpopo is expected to address an urgent media briefing in Polokwane on Monday.
“The African National Congress in Limpopo Province has learned with great sadness and concern about a shooting incident in Juju Valley, Polokwane between ANC and EFF members/supporters In light of the above, the ANC Limpopo will convene a media briefing that will reflect about the unfortunate incidence,” they said. Meanwhile, the EFF is yet to comment on the incident.
