Another arrest in connection with the Juju Valley political violence

A 25-year-old Man has been arrested for assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm in connection with the recent Juju Valley political violence. Members of the ANC and EFF clashed while campaigning for the national and Provincial elections.
The suspect allegedly hit a woman with a brick during the violence that erupted outside Seshego.

The suspect is expected to appear before Seshego Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 30 May 2024. The reported cases so far include a variety of offences such as attempted murder, malicious damage to property, assault GBH and contravention of Sec 87(1)(f) of the Electoral Act 1998 amongst others.
LIMPOPO MAKE ANOTHER ARREST WITH REGARD TO THE JUJU VALLEY POLITICAL VIOLENCE
Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has welcomed the recent arrest.
“We are closely monitoring the areas affected by sporadic political and community unrest to ensure that the instigators are swiftly arrested,” said Hadebe.
“The province is relatively calm at the moment. However, the law enforcement authorities remain on high alert and our intelligence unit is actively on the ground to ensure the safety of voters during the election period,” concluded Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe.
Meanwhile, Juju Valley has been identified as one of the 24 as high-risk voting stations in Limpopo. Police in the province have identified 157 voting stations as medium risk. Amongst them are  Botlokwa in the Capricorn District, Dididi village Ha-Mutsha in the Vhembe District. As well as Bolobedu in the Mopani District.
