Thabazimbi Municipality clarify delay in payment of salaries

The Thabazimbi Local Municipality in Limpopo have clarified the delay in the payment of their salaries and the suitability of the acting Municipal Manager. The information was first revealed by the EFF in Limpopo on Wednesday. They also raised the issue of the suitability of the acting Municipal Manager Rabelani Tshiswaise.

“We are particularly critical of Rabelani Tshiswaise. Who went from being a manager in Spatial Planning and Land use Management to an illegitimate Acting Municipal Manager overnight,” said the EFF.

“The EFF views this situation as a gross injustice that demands immediate attention. It is unacceptable that dedicated public servants are being denied their rightful compensation for their hard work and dedication.”

But on Friday, the Municipality issued an official statement on the accusations by the EFF. The salaries have also since been paid.

ISSUES OF NON-PAYMENT OF EMPLOYEE’S SALARIES CLARIFIED BY THE THABAZIMBI MUNICIPALITY

“We would like to address the recent claims made by the EFF in Limpopo regarding the non-payment of salaries to our dedicated workers and councillors, and the suitability of the acting Municipal Manager,” said the Municipality.

“First and foremost, we want to emphasize that the well-being and fair treatment of our employees are of utmost importance to us. The Municipality has always strived to ensure that salaries are paid in a timely manner.

“We are committed to ensuring that our employees receive the compensation they deserve for their hard work. Regarding the concerns raised about the acting Municipal Manager, we assure the public that the individual appointed to this position is well qualified and capable of fulfilling the responsibilities entrusted to them.”

“The Municipality follows a rigorous selection process for all leadership positions. We are confident in the abilities of our acting Municipal Manager to effectively lead and manage the Municipality.

“In conclusion, the Thabazimbi Local Municipality remains committed to transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement. We are open to engaging with all stakeholders. Including the EFF, to address concerns, collaborate on solutions. Work towards the common goal of serving the community of Thabazimbi. To the best of our abilities.”
