On Sunday, the Municipality confirmed that the findings indicate that the fire was caused by an electrical-related fault. All offices are now ready to be occupied except for the affected area and all municipal employees are also back at work.

“This serves to notify both employees and residents that the forensic investigation has been concluded,” said the Municipality.
“Whilst we await an official written report, we can safely confirm that the investigators reported that their findings don’t point to any foul play. Effectively, this put to rest all aspersions around the cause of the fire.
“It should also be noted that the offices are now ready to be occupied except for the affected area. In the light of the above, all municipal employees are expected back to work tomorrow, 08 July 2024,” concluded a statement.
