Limpopo Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba will officially launch the Dikgerekgere service delivery program on Wednesday. Dr Ramathuba will be accompanied by Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure MEC Ernest Rachoene, at Ga-Mongalo on roads D3112 and D3126 in Lephalale Municipality.

The program aims to revitalize the province’s road infrastructure through blading, regraveling, and debushing.

“Given that most of our roads are gravel, this intervention is essential. This initiative ensures our roads remain in good condition, free from potholes, and safe for all road users,” said the Premier.

“The maintenance of an integrated road infrastructure not only ensures safe road usage. But also facilitates socio-economic development in the province. That’s why we fully support this initiative by MEC Rachoene,” added Premier Ramathuba.

Meanwhile, Premier Ramathuba led a delegation of government officials to visit the family of a deceased woman who was allegedly killed by her boyfriend at her residence in Seshego last week. She was accompanied by Social Development MEC Florence Radzilani and MEC for Transport and Community Safety Violet Mathye.

According to the police report, the victim was stabbed multiple times in the upper body by her boyfriend. She collapsed, bleeding profusely, and was later rushed to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead upon arrival. The suspect has been arrested and is scheduled to appear at the Seshego Magistrate Court on Monday, 08 July 2024.

“We are deeply disturbed by this horrific act that claimed the life of a woman in her own home,” said Dr Ramathuba.

“We must unite to challenge harmful norms, support survivors, and hold also perpetrators accountable. Ending gender-based violence requires each of us to take action, speak out, and foster an environment where equality and justice prevail. Together, we can build a future free from violence for all.”
