Limpopo MEC for Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure, Ernest Rachoene has reiterated comments by Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba of plans to scrap tenders in the province.
The Limpopo provincial government recently launched the Dikgerekgere Wednesday delivery programme. This is aimed at delivering certain services without outsourcing.

During a media briefing in Polokwane on Tuesday, Rachoene says plans are in place to scrap what he says are unnecessary tenders.
“We are not saying we are doing away with all tenders. But we will do away with those that we feel that we can live without,” he said.

“That’s what I told the HOD that we need to get rid of those tenders that don’t make sense to me. We [must] get our own staff to deal with those particular issues as and when we deal with our day-to-day issues.
“So there will be those tenders that you will see that we will scrap because to me they don’t make sense. In the main, these tenders are the ones that make people fight,” added MEC Rachoene.
“So if you get rid of them then you get that money and create jobs for our people. In particular young people, so we will be excited about our duties with diligence. One of the priorities I spoke about is the job creation part which is the crisis in this country.”
